Pick Me Up

A few things I picked up along the way round.

Quick sketch I did whilst sitting out in the sun.

Yesterday I went to the annual Pick Me Up graphic art fair where they showcase the work of many respected and talented graphic artist covering a range of different medias. 

This year was very much print based compared to when I went two years previous where it was mostly all illustration. 

On leaving i felt very much inspired and reflected on the fact I'm just a small fish in a big ocean of other talented artists, graphic designers, illustrators e.t.c. Very scary when you think about it....

Work that stood out for me was animal/self portrait illustrations by Niki pilkinton and typographic illustrator Yuko Michishita.

Film is the new digital?

Some examples of my Lomo photos I recently got developed.

This was my first experience at using a Lomo film camera and I'm quite happy with how some of the photos have come out. I need to work on exposure as many came out far too dark.

Dale Farm eviction film

This is my final piece for my uni brief about the eviction of Dale Farm residents.

I feel there is room for development as it appears slightly rough round the edges and there are areas I feel could be improved. It's not a style or format I have worked with before but I feel my illustrations have helped to create an atmosphere along with the use of audio 'Teardrop' by Massive Attack.
