FMP - Romeo and Juliet Paper Cuttings

My take on the story of Romeo and Juliet told over a four day period in the media of my own paper cuttings.
These will then be used to create shadows as part of an interactive way to tell the story.

Day 1:
Romeo kills Tybalt
Romeo + Juliet spend Monday night together
Capulet arranges for Paris and Juliet to marry

Day 2:
Juliet goes to Friar Laurence who gives her distilling liquor
Juliet drink potion on Tuesday night

Day 3:
Juliet is discovered 'dead' and is buried the same day
Romeo buys poison before leaving for Juliets tomb in Verona
Finds body of Juliet
Murders Paris and drinks poison just before Juliet awakes to find him dead beside her
She kills herself

Day 4:
They are discovered in the early hours of Thursday morning

Progression with R + J

I've been experimenting with layering the shadows onto text and have found that it makes the imagery less clear. I may try out different coloured papers and give it another try as i had intended to incorporate moving text with the shadows.
I made a small booth in which to encase it all in and after playing around with the shadows I have found it may work better for the text to be situated on the base and the shadows to be shone onto the back wall.
Now i've worked out a nice set up i need to sort out my other cuttings, and the text to work with it.

Shadow Making

Last night I had a momentous brainwave and after struggling for 3 months solid I think i've discovered a technique that would work well with recreating the narrative of Romeo + Juliet.
I had originally planned to tell the story though paper cuttings in the form of a book but now i'm considering using shadows created with my paper cuttings in an interactive way.
I think i could finally be on to something here....YIPEE!!

Romeo + Juliet Paper Cutting WIP

Work in progress for my Final Major Project.
My aim is to produce a book telling the Shakespearean story of Romeo and Juliet through an up to date style of paper cuttings and other artistic medias.
With the design shown above i'm working back to front so that no pencil markings are visible on the finished design.
